Dear Colleagues,

If you are interested in teaching your students to build simulation models of dynamic feedback systems please read on.

Great news: isee systems had recently released a free, web-based version of the Stella software.  It only allows the model to have 12 icons (Maximum of 2 stocks), but many models can be built within this restriction.  If you are interested in a three-page description of how to access and use this new version of the Stella software just let me know.

Also new is the 3rd online course in the three-course sequence for instructors who want to learn System Dynamics (SD) modeling so they can bring SD modeling activities to their students (ages 15 to 22+).  The 3rd course provides instruction for teachers who want to build original models from the news (or other sources of information).

All three online courses in the SD modeling sequence will be offered starting June 12, 2017 and will last for 10 weeks.  All three courses offer many ready-to-use lessons (with answers and models) for a broad range of student abilities.  Each of the three courses can be taken for 3 graduate CEED credits through Portland State University.

The courses are:

Course 1:  Introduction to System Dynamics Modeling for Math and Science Instructors: Basic Models

This is a course for instructors who have no background in System Dynamics.  It is intended as a transition course to help participants learn how to use the Stella software to build SD models and identify feedback.

Course 2:  Introduction to System Dynamics Modeling for Math and Science Instructors: More Advanced Models

This course helps participants design models containing non-linear dynamics.  It builds the foundation for modeling complex systems.

Course 3:  Modeling Dynamic Systems: A Different Way to Think: Building Original Models from the News

This course helps participants design original models from a description of a dynamic problem that is presented in the news (or other source).

For details about each course please go to:  www.ccmodelingsystems.com.

I hope you will consider taking one of these courses.
