Dear Colleagues,

Teach your students to create Systems models.

3 levels of courses: Course 1: Basic Models, Course 2: More Advanced Models, and Course 3: Building Models from the News.  Asynchronous.  10 weeks. Graduate CE credit available.

Starts June 11, 2018

Responses from teachers who have taken these courses:

What did you like best about this course?

“I liked all of the activities and thought they developed ideas in a logical order.”

“I thought this was a great course.  I liked how explicit all the instructions were for the computer modeling….I liked the video tutorials too….I liked that the instructors were very conscientious about responding quickly to questions and comments.”

“The fact that we were building actual models and exercising them instead of just reading about it.”

“Videos were outstanding. They were at a pace I could follow along.  They were broken into reasonable time and information chunks.”

“Building models and getting feedback when I got stuck, and writing my own lessons.”

“Your detailed feedback was priceless.”

General Comments:

“Thank you for a great course.”

“You really are a master teacher.  It is not always you complete a class and say, “WOW, that instructor was awesome.” Thank you.”

“Generally I think it was a great course and I am happy I took it.”

Other things to consider:

1.     Free, web-based Stella Online modeling software allows you to use almost all of the lessons in course 1 and some of the lessons in course 2 immediately in your classroom.

2.     You only need an average understanding of high school algebra to take the first course.

3.     Build your expertise over 3 summers by taking one course each summer.
