Two agencies become one to better serve our communities.

I am pleased to announce the expansion of Compass Health Network’s service area.  Effective in September (2020), Family Health Center of Columbia, Missouri is merging with Compass Health Network.

Family Health Center (FHC) was established in June of 1992 as a community effort to provide primary and preventive health care to the medically underserved and to improve the health status of families. Initial partners included three major hospitals, the Columbia Area United Way, the Boone County Health Department, the University School of Medicine, and the Missouri Department of Social Services.  In 1995, the Family Health Center organized itself as a nonprofit corporation with a local governing board.  In 1997, FHC became an.  Today, FHC has grown to nearly 170 employees serving patients and communities through its seven locations in Boone, Chariton, Linn, and Randolph Counties.

Family Health Center and Compass Health Network have had similar journeys.  Both organizations have been growing and changing to meet the ever-increasing health care needs of the communities served.  By joining together, we are increasing our ability to serve Central Missouri – improving access to care, expanding our workforce expertise, and bringing needed services to our communities.  

Please join me in welcoming the Family Health Center staff and leadership into our Compass family.   In the coming weeks and months, FHC staff will go through some of the same transitions that many Compass employees experienced during previous mergers.  Integration workgroups have been formed that will consist of Compass and FHC staff to make this a smooth transition.  We are eager to begin this work and excited about our new team members.  Together we will Inspire Hope and Promote Wellness, and we are pleased that they are joining us in this effort.
