Hi Cynthia,
I called a local hospital to ask where they recycled their x-ray film. While the company said our film was of no value to them (not enough silver content), they offered to stop by the library and take the film and fiche away for disposal for free.  I was very happy to keep it out of the landfill.  They did ask us to remove the film from the spools.  Hope this helps.
