Open when unstaffed? yikes.
Would it be possible to close the library when it is unstaffed?
(I know this is likely to be very unpopular to patrons and folks on this list).

Of course it is understood that the point of a reference library is to provide access to information, but if material is going walk-about, only the person who has a particular book has access to it. 

One could do some "research" (email survey, or ??) to determine what days and times of the day the library is most heavily accessed and perhaps adjust the hours it is open to hours available to be staffed?
It's just a thought.
