American Libraries has a new publication pattern for v. 42, 2011.  There will be six issues with double numbers and double months: nos. 1/2, January/February; 3/4, March/April; etc.  Volume 43, 2012, will probably be the same.  I spoke with Senior Editor Beverly Goldberg who explained that continuing to use twelve numbers allows them the flexibility of increasing the number of issues in future years.  I suggested they put some indication of the year’s enumeration and chronology in the masthead.
