So far our plan is to take an easier way out (we hope) than indexing the 3xx fields. Our plan is to use BCODE2 to provide deeper indexing of material formats. We will have a committee of catalogers expand the values we have so  far in BCODE2  and develop as complete as possible a list of formats in the collections and figure out how to represent  them in BCODE 2. Our ILS managers will figure out how to use  thesein the opac  in limiting searches and  by providing icons to help users on search and browse screens.

I’ll be interested in seeing the plans and comments of others.

Subject: [SERIALST] 336-384 RDA fields and indexing

Good morning:

We are wondering:

Are  libraries planning to index RDA (336-384) fields within their library catalogs?

We are especially interested in what others  with Innovative Interfaces catalogs are planning to do.

We are aware that III recommends that we not index these fields at this time; however, we are

undergoing a re-indexing project which should take place in July or August.

thank you,

Cheryl
