AIP has decided to charge separately for their archive content. We had decided to purchase the digital archive content, but the license agreement limits ILL to the USA and does not allow the digital copy to be used for document delivery (must be printed and then scanned). AIP has refused to change this.

Last year, the ARL International ILL Task Force developed best practices and model language that “clarifies that ILL is not limited by national boundaries, and allows the use of a digital copy of the electronic article without printing prior to sending.” So far this has not helped.

What is everyone else doing when faced with a license like this? Have you argued against these terms successfully? Have you agreed to these terms?

Please feel free to respond off list if you want.
