The ALCTS Continuing Resources Section's Continuing Resources Cataloging and Holdings Committees will be holding a joint forum at ALA Midwinter on the topic of linked data. We are seeking
volunteers to work with Viewshare to create and discuss examples of linked data within their libraries -- no project is too small!

Forum description:

Linked Data for Holdings and Cataloging: The first step is the hardest!

Everywhere you look—from pre-conferences to webinars--there is a lot of recent talk  about Linked Data. However, only large resource-rich organizations seem to have projects underway. Is the utilization of Linked Data even possible—or relevant—for my library? If so, how can I get started? Join the ALCTS Continuing Resources Section's Holdings and Continue Resources Cataloging Committees to learn how to get the ball rolling. Learn how Linked Data is relevant for holdings and cataloging. Learn about some practical examples of how Linked Data has been used in projects both large and small. Discover how simple tools can transform your spreadsheets or scattered documents into inviting and exciting links, adding value to and deriving value from other Linked Data.
