TEAM LEADER FOR ACQUISITIONS AND METADATA. 

DESCRIPTION.   CWRU seeks an energetic, creative and collaborative professional for the position of Team Leader for Acquisitions and Metadata, reporting to the Associate Director for Academic Engagements Services. The incumbent will be responsible for overall supervision of the library's acquisitions of materials in all formats and metadata operations, including traditional library cataloging and creation of metadata for digital objects, including manipulation and loading of files of vendor-supplied records. The incumbent will plan, implement, and evaluate operations, establish policies and procedures, and set priorities in collaboration with library management. The incumbent will provide training, evaluation, and supervision of team staff. The team leader will ensure compliance with national and local standards such as MARC, RDA, AACR2r, LCSH, LCCS, OCLC, LC cataloging practices, and other appropriate cataloging and metadata standards. The successful candidate will research and implement best practices for batch and automated cataloging and acquisitions, maximizing library personnel resources for more human-intensive activities.

In addition to management and administrative duties, the incumbent will perform original cataloging as needed. The successful candidate should stay abreast of national trends and new developments in cataloging, metadata and acquisitions, and network with research services, collection development, and other library professionals within the library as well as outside the University. The incumbent will also create and implement assessment methods for the work of the team, and perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in the library’s Personal Librarian program.

QUALIFICATIONS. MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent degree. Substantial knowledge of MARC, RDA, AACR2r, LCSH, LCCS, OCLC and tools related to manipulation of electronic files of records, such as MarcEdit. Substantial knowledge of library acquisitions or other experience in the book/serials trade. Demonstrated management experience, preferably in an academic library setting. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, initiative, and flexibility. Demonstrated knowledge of library applications of computer technology and electronic information resources to metadata creation and library acquisitions. A strong commitment to excellence in service and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a complex, changing environment

SALARY.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
