Sorry Barbara, I just called JSTOR and you can only download MARC records for books, not journals. Why would you download new records when you already have records in your OPAC with the same bibliographic information in them anyways?

It would probably be easier to just change your print records. They basically have the same bibliographic information as the electronic records so changing them wouldn’t be difficult. You’re only going to be importing AACR2 records anyways unless they are for new publications. Your inventorying is going to be a pain in the backside whether everything is barcoded or not. You still have to be hands on with every item……

Subject: [SERIALST] JSTOR weed and inventory

I have a two part problem/question. My institution recently began a JSTOR weed and due to previous decisions all of our links to JSTOR content was on print records. I have to find each individual record in OCLC and import it into Voyager and  create the holdings. Is there an easier way to do this? Has anyone else done a JSTOR weed and needed to bring in electronic records into their catalog?

Secondly, after we complete the JSTOR weed, our institution will begin an inventory. None of our journals are barcoded so I was wondering if anyone else has done an inventory on non-barcoded items. How easy or difficult was the process?

Any tips or suggestions on either the JSTOR weed or inventory would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
