At Colorado State University we use Current Journals as the name where our current journals, newspapers, and other periodicals are (on the Library’s 2nd floor). We use Bound Journals as the name for our older journals, which are bound and on the basement floor. If we keep older journals, but do not bind them, they remain in Current Journals.

Subject: [SERIALST] Terminology for current and back periodicals areas

Hello,

I've been researching terminology.

Do you use the terms "Current Periodicals Shelves" to designate the area where you keep the most recent or the current year's worth of issues?

Do you use "Back Periodicals Shelves" to refer to the area where you keep the older issues?

In my research, it seems like most libraries use these.

Thanks!
