Mary Huismann has worked extensively with music and media cataloging. She is an active member of the Music Library Association and the Online Audiovisual Catalogers, currently serving as Cataloging Policy Committee Chair. Mary has recently been appointed
as Chair of the Music Library Association Cataloging and Metadata Committee’s Content Standards Subcommittee and serves as MLA Liaison to ALA’s Committee on Cataloging: Description and Access (CC:DA).
This presentation will look at where we have come from and where we might be headed in AV cataloging. Along the way, various best practices guides issued by the Online Audiovisual Catalogers (OLAC) and Music Library Association (MLA) will be examined.
The New Frontier: Cataloging Popular Music Sound Recordings Using RDA.

This session will provide catalogers with basic information for cataloging popular music sound recordings (LPs and CDs) using RDA. Specific examples will be provided for both formats, as well as the latest update on music issues still under discussion regarding
RDA and popular music cataloging.
