Job Summary
California State University Fullerton’s Pollak Library is searching for a Head of Collection and Processing Services. Be part of the future of education at Cal State Fullerton.

Under the general direction of the University Librarian, the Head of Collection and Processing Services directs and coordinates the activities of the Collection and Processing Services Unit (CPS), which includes Acquisitions and Database Management, Cataloging, Collection Development, Government Documents, and Serials and Electronic Resources. Oversees the 2.4 million dollar materials budget. Manages personnel matters, librarian work assignments, and overall supervision of staff and students. Oversees inventory, acquisitions, and digital resource workflows in the library management system and other integrated information technologies. Performs general administrative tasks such as strategic planning and the development and interpretation of policies and procedures to support the university community in an effective and accountable manner. Works in collaboration with California State University Chancellor’s Office personnel and with Technical Service managers across the CSU on system-wide projects such as the Unified Library Management System and consortial resource acquisition and retention. As a member of the Management Team, the Head of Collection and Processing Services shares in the policy-making decisions and management responsibilities for the library as a whole. May assume responsibility for library operations in the absence of the University Librarian and the Associate University Librarian and may be asked to represent the library at a variety of meetings, both internal and external to the university campus community. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
American Library Association accredited Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Five years of professional and relevant experience in progressively responsible positions with personnel supervision. Five years of recent experience in acquisitions, database management, cataloging, collection development, government documents, and/or serials and electronic resources. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Preferred Qualifications Previous supervisory and/or management experience in an academic library setting. Understanding and experience implementing the principles of library and information science services, philosophies, technologies, library-wide operations (services provided and resources required), and business operations (accounting, strategic planning, cost analysis, personnel administration, licenses, contracts and leases, project management, statistical analysis, and process optimization among other business practices). Demonstrated awareness of new services, technologies, and programs, including recommending and coordinating the appropriate Library response.

Special Working Conditions
The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial “Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests” within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
