Electronic Resources/Web Services Librarian/Assistant/Associate Professor, Library, 54015

 

Job Description or Duties: The Electronic Resources/Web Services Librarian implements, manages, supports, and enhances a range of technologies to provide innovative library services and to ensure access to Calvin T. Ryan Library's extensive online information resources and services and plays a key role in making the Library a campus technology leader. Primary areas of responsibility are Electronic Resources, which includes Open Educational Resources; and Web Services, which includes Mobile and Social Media and Library Marketing. This is a twelve-month, tenure track appointment with assistant or associate professor rank, depending upon experience. The Electronic Resources/Web Services Librarian reports to the Coordinator for Virtual Library Services.    

 

Required Qualifications: ALA accredited master’s degree in Library Science or foreign equivalent. At least two years of relevant experience in an academic library with evidence of broad, in-depth knowledge, skills, and experience with technology. Demonstrated experience with Electronic Resource Management in an academic library. Demonstrated experience working with Web Services in an academic library, including mobile and social media and database design and development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate discussion about web design, content and technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with Open Educational Resources, and Academic Library Marketing. Evidence of the ability to concurrently manage multiple projects, administer systems and troubleshoot. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with colleagues and to liaison with other information technology professionals across campus. Knowledge of cataloging principles and experience with metadata standards, such as MARC and RDA. Experience with one or more of the following: XML/XSLT, Apache, Linux, MySQL, and a programming language such as PHP. Experience with digitizing and editing images, text, video, audio, and other formats and delivering them on the web. Desire to work with a diverse student population. Ability to converse in a second language.
