Does anyone have a vendor they can recommend for PDF->microfilm conversion?

Our long-time bindery company (a big huge one starting with an H) had a third-party company they worked with to film our theses/dissertations, given the PDFs.

Our archivist continues to agree with NARA and others that long-term preservation should include eye-readable film, not PDFs dependent upon software.

And now I hear rumors that Newsbank’s microfilming third-party also will be ceasing.

I don’t know how unusual we are to go from PDF to microfilm rather than book to microfilm.

Any help?

Please reply on the list.

Thanks,

Scott

I asked our Lyrasis Outreach Librarian since Lyrasis had been working with them as a vendor. She confirmed that NA Publishing has shut down. Apparently the parent company, IDC, went bankrupt. Unfortunately, she also had no contact information for NA Publishing about where to go to make a case for getting money back. I think it is highly unlikely any items will be successfully claimed. As best as I can tell they closed their doors on or around March 31, 2018.

Does anyone know of another company that can supply back file microforms for journals?

Hello,

Did anyone have any luck getting an email or call back from someone at NA Publishing within the past month? We’re in the same boat – several items not received for the past few years and no indication that we’ll receive those items or get a refund.

I am wondering if any libraries are still collecting microfiche on regular basis?  If so, do you subscribe to titles through NA Publishing?  Have you received anything since March of 2017?  We cancelled all our subscriptions in 2017, but still have several titles from 2015 and 2016 which have not been completed.  My phone calls and emails are not being answered.  Does anyone out there have any information on this company to share?

Thanks,

LeAnne
