Position Summary:

The Washington State University Libraries invites applications for Metadata Librarian, a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position located on the Pullman campus.  This position reports to the Head of Technical Services. 

This position will be responsible for metadata in various library platforms. The Metadata Librarian will creatively address problem resolution involving all formats and including access issues with e-resources, catalog maintenance, original cataloging and complex copy cataloging in all formats in addition to assisting with coordinating the physical cataloging and electronic resources functional areas. 

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Master’s degree from an ALA-Accredited Library and Information Studies program at date of hire;

·         Minimum of three years of cataloging experience, preferably in an academic or research library;

·         Knowledge of RDA, MARC formats, Library of Congress classification system, and Library of Congress subject headings;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of trends and national standards in cataloging;

·         Experience cataloging using a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC;

·         Experience with library resource management systems, preferably Ex Libris Alma;

·         Strong communication and organization skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with EAD and Dublin Core;

·         Experience with Institutional Repositories;

·         Experience with Content Management Systems;

·         Experience with electronic resources management;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of serial cataloging;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of database maintenance issues and problems in an academic library resource management system and discovery interface;

·         Working knowledge of foreign languages.
