NOTSL will hold its Fall Meeting on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Parma-Snow Branch Auditorium, 2121 Snow Road in Parma, Ohio. 

Registration and light refreshments: 9:00 am – 9:30 am

Program: 9:30 am – 4 pm

Acquiring Minds Want to Know: The Future of Procurement of Library Materials will be presented by Morag Boyd from The Ohio State University Libraries. She will discuss current trends in acquisitions and collection development, including non-traditional acquisition methods and streaming media.

Immediately following, Pam Matthews and Barbara Satow from the Cleveland Public Library will present The Mysteries of Publishing Revealed: Looking Behind the Curtain at the Wonderful World of Publishing. This session will highlight answers about publishing, self-publishing, rights of authors, and more.

After the lunch break OhioLINK’s Joanna Voss will introduce What Use are Stats?  Usage Statistics in Context focusing on the “big picture” and how standards like COUNTER level the playing field when assessing electronic collections.

Kay Downey from Kent State University will discuss The DDA Ebook Model, Practices, and Program Variances, which directs attention beyond the traditional PDA models. She will provide insight revolving around Kent State University’s research on DDA and PDA platforms.

Our last session will be presented by Jennifer Rice from Kent State University. She will discuss Streaming Media Acquisitions focusing on PDAs, maintaining catalog records, content access, and budget concerns. She will also discuss various platforms like Kanopy, Swank Motion Pictures, and Alexander Street Press.
