We very occasionally order PDF’s (both monographs and serials, though generally not journals) that have restricted use license.  We have a dedicated webspace (beside campus authentication) where we put them.  This journal example shows one of our issues for journals.  To avoid having to set up a website for the journal, we just link directly to each PDF file.  Works fine for monographs, doesn’t work as well for journals consisting of multiple PDF’s.  If there were screens and screens worth of issues, we would come up with another approach.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [SERIALST] PDF perpetual access

Hello,

One of our journal subscriptions is moving platforms and instead of having our perpetual access be maintained on the old or new site, the publisher is sending us pdf files of the issues we own. Have any of you encountered this situation? Could you share what you have done to maintain access to those pdf’s for users?

Thanks,

Subject: [SERIALST] Is it true that EBSCO EJS was discontinued?

Hello,

3 people at EBSCO had told me that EBSCO EJS has been discontinued since 2016.  We still use the platform and EBSCO is updating holdings for our journals to the current year.  I am wondering if they mean they are no longer updating the platform, but still updating holdings for those who sue it.  99% of the time EJS works.

I'm going to speak with an EBSCO engineer soon about it.  I just wondered if anyone else had insights into this.

Thanks,
