Colleagues,

Join us in developing a Community of Practice to expand the shared knowledge and implementation of OA (open access) and transformative agreement principles and mechanisms.

The number of new open access and transformative agreements is rapidly growing, yet an understanding of how they work is far from universal.  Mutual exchanges of ideas, tactics, and a deeper knowledge of the current and potential models will foster opportunities for open access publishing on a larger scale.

Experienced OA and transformative agreement pioneers will share their experiences and approaches and collaboratively address emerging issues and models.  Collectively, the Community will discuss such topics as the importance of data analysis in agreements, faculty and institutional buy-in, and the impact of shifting funding models and workflows into open access.

All library faculty and staff are welcome, so join us in the inaugural OA2020 Community of Practice  on Thursday, May 14th! Details and a link below to register.

Best wishes,

on behalf of the US OA2020 Working Group (https://oa2020.us/)

This Community of Practice Call is coordinated by the US OA2020 Working Group for library faculty and staff who wish to learn and share knowledge around the practical aspects of Negotiating and Implementing OA and Transformative Agreements.

With the open access transition ushering in a new paradigm in scholarly publishing, the call is intended to be an opportunity to ask questions, offer expertise garnered through experience, and build a culture of information-sharing within the library community around elements such as data gathering and analysis, negotiation strategy, library workflows, budgeting, staff organization, metadata standards, value assessment criteria and more.

In this first of an ongoing series of Community of Practice Calls, Curtis Brundy, Chair of the US OA2020 Working Group will introduce some of the key aspects of his negotiation and implementation plan, and the ensuing discussion and participant feedback will contribute to planning of future calls.

While the Community of Practice Call organizers are affiliated with the global Open Access 2020 Initiative, being a signatory of OA2020 is not a requirement to participate in the call.
