Core webinar: Best Practices for Managing Change in Library Technical Services

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.

 

Description: Libraries are dealing with significant challenges such as budget constraints, requests for new and improved services, and implementing an ever-growing list of technologies and standards. These challenges are particularly relevant to critical library operations such as cataloging, acquisitions and electronic resource management. To meet and overcome these challenges, technical services managers need to effectively manage and inspire change within their teams. This webinar will examine key strategies for successful change management, including organizational assessment, change formulation, and enacting and influencing change, and how these concepts can be implemented within the technical services environment.


Learning outcomes: 

In this webinar, attendees will learn about:

1. Assessing the need for change;

2. Formulating change;

3. Communicating the need for change;

4. Enacting and influencing change; and

5. Maintaining  change.

This webinar is intended for both technical services managers and staff.



Presenter:

Daniel Jergovic is Head, Acquisitions and Metadata at Arizona State University Library. Prior to his current position, Daniel was Supervisor, Digital Metadata & Ingest at Northeastern University’s Snell Library. He has also held librarian positions at University of South Florida, University of Washington, and San Diego State University.
