Starting salary is $13.87 per hour plus excellent benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. This position is represented by the Wisconsin Education Association Council Bargaining Unit. JOB DUTIES: Prepare original and edited cataloging and classification for monographs and serials held or acquired by the State Historical Society; review and direct paraprofessional catalogers in the use of on-line cataloging systems to produce cataloging, copy and holdings records. Publicize the library's collections and instruct patrons doing library research. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Advanced knowledge and ability to prepare and edit original descriptive and subject cataloging for monographs and serials, including microforms and electronic publications, using OCLC and Voyager; cataloging facility in French; knowledge of standard cataloging tools such as AACR2r, OCLC, MARC, Library of Congress classification and LCSH; knowledge of current national cataloging trends and issues in library automation; advanced general librarian skills and abilities and ability to train, direct and evaluate the work of paraprofessional library staff, including student workers.
