Responsibilities: Oversees the daily operation of the Serials Department, including supervision of classified staff. Has oversight of the serials budget. Maintains ongoing contact with serial and electronic resources vendors; evaluates new vendor services. Coordinates use of the Innopac serials control module in all units and branches. Coordinates and supports management of electronic resources, including ordering, reviewing and negotiating license agreements, reviewing technical specs for databases and establishing authentication procedures with the library Systems Office; keeps current with developments in digital libraries and electronic resources. Supports collection development with analysis of information dealing with serials and electronic resources. Participates in research, service, and professional development to meet requirements for promotion and tenure. Reports to the Director of Technical Services. Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS. Two years of serials experience in an automated environment. Successful supervisory experience. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Experience in negotiating contracts and licenses for electronic resources with vendors and aggregators. Knowledge of copyright and its impact on electronic resources. Experience with Innovative Interfaces serials module. Experience with Web page creation and management. Ability to manage and exercise leadership in a rapidly changing technological environment. Demonstrated interest in professional activities needed to meet university requirements for promotion and tenure. Salary: minimum $43,000 or commensurate with experience. Fringes: TIAA/CREF and other retirement options; 24 vacation days per year; generous sick leave. No state income tax or FICA. Tuition benefits for self and family. Environment: University of Nevada, Reno has a student body of 12,500, with approximately one-third enrolled in graduate degree programs.
