Subject: periodical binding

Dear SERIALST-ers,

We are a small undergraduate liberal arts college with 2125 FTE. We will be
facing a library renovation in the next few years, and as part of the
overall preparation, I am reviewing our bindery procedures. I have several
questions on this topic.

-Who handles the binding in your library, from preparation to processing?
Does that person have other responsibilities? If so, what are the other
duties?

-Are journals and monographs handled by separate departments?

-What is an average output (# of volumes) within a binding cycle?

-What are the procedures when the volumes return from the bindery?

-Have electronic journals had an impact (yet) on periodicals binding in your
library?

I would particularly like to hear from other small liberal arts
institutions. Please reply directly to me. Thank you.
