In the past we prepaid so that we received the discount. However, a
number
of years ago we changed our policy since the University would earn more
in
interest by keeping the money in the University's account than the
savings
by pre-paying

Hi!
I'm wondering how many of you out there get your institutions to take
advantage of the serials list pre-payment discount offered by vendors?
Our vendor is EBSCO and we can get varying discounts for prepaying the
big renewal list (i.e., 2% if paid by 6-26-00, 1.5% if paid by 7-31-00,
etc.).
I would like to pre-pay the invoice, as it would result in thousands
of dollars of savings for the library. I'm hopeful that if I can
come up with a list of other institutions (roughly similar in size to
mine; 4200 FTE, private four year University; current subscriptions on
our renewal list is about 1600) that actually do pre-pay, that it might
lend some credence to my argument.
Thanks in advance for your help!
