OPEN: Immediately. SCOPE: Technical Services at Davis consists of four departments - Catalog, Serials, Acquisitions and Preservation. Staffing for these units is 8 Academic, 50 Clerical and 6 FTE Student staff. Technical processing is also done in the Carlson Health Sciences Library and in the Government Information Department. RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a senior level administrative position which reports directly to the University Librarian and serves as part of the senior management team. Is directly supervises the Heads of the Catalog, Serials, Acquisitions and Preservation units. Responsible for management, planning and resource allocation within these units. Has primary responsibility within the UCD General Library for leadership, planning and coordination of technical services operations. Represents the Library in UC System and in national forums. QUALIFICATIONS: A strong record of leadership and accomplishment in management of technical services in a large research or academic library is essential. Excellent analytical, writing, speaking and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff in a rapidly changing, complex, diverse and multicultural environment. Demonstrated decision making and planning skills required. Knowledge of library systems required. A graduate degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or its equivalent required.
