Responsibilities: Creates original catalog records and oversees database maintenance for print journals and electronic journals, collections, databases, indexes, monographs and other Internet resources. Develops policies, procedures, and training information for cataloging of serials and for organizing and representing Internet resources and electronic journals in library databases and web pages. Supervises staff responsible for serials copy cataloging. Collaborates with the librarys web development team to apply database technologies and metadata standards to the librarys web presence. Serves on the departmental management team. Serves as a liaison to an academic department. Required qualifications: Accredited MLS; excellent knowledge of serials cataloging using AACR2r, LCSH, LCC, and USMARC; current awareness of national trends and developments in cataloging, metadata standards, and information retrieval; excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills; excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; knowledge of markup languages, web design, and Internet search skills; strong public service orientation; and an aptitude for complex, analytical, and detailed work. Desirable qualifications: previous supervisory experience and ability to foster teamwork among all levels of staff preferred. Evidence of innovation in application of cataloging skills to enhance public access. 12-month faculty appointment. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience, minimum $37,000.
