For a summary, see my presentation from the 2000 National Online Meeting, at:
http://www.princeton.edu/~biolib/dg/whatprint.html
and , from this year's SLA meeting:
http://www.princeton.edu/~biolib/dg/whatpubl.html
(They will also appear together in modified form in the next Online
Information Review.)

For a discussion of a MUCH better effort, see the material from Univ. of Wisc.
Of course that's a multi-year project across a whole library system. see:
http://www.library.wisc.edu/projects/glsdo/cost.html

Another discussion from earlier on this list: see:

Wisconsin concluded that their use/reshelving ration was less than or equal to 2.
My data was that it was very close to 2.
Difficult as it is to do such a study, without it you do not have data. But I
was very glad to stop after one year. With e-journals, this will be much
easier once methods are worked out for dealing with the immense amounts of
data obtainable.
