        Coordinator for Bibliographic Control and Electronic
                         Resource Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:       Reporting to the Assistant Dean
for Technical Services, this position plans and coordinates the
full range of activities to create effective access to and
management of informational resources through programs of
bibliographic control and information organization.
Bibliographic Control and Electronic Resource Services includes
faculty (3) and classified staff (12) in original cataloging and
these units: Joint Copy Cataloging, Database Management, and
Projects. The Coordinator provides personnel organization,
supervision, evaluation, training and professional development
for the department. For bibliographic control and information
organization service programs, the position leads investigation,
implementation and evaluation of information technology;
develops and recommends policies and procedures for
cataloging/metadata in consultation with other groups in the
Libraries; fosters standards and best practices for programs;
managers automated system modules used for services; directs
authority processes germane to programs; conducts analyses of
services; and provides liaison with vendors for information
organization.  As a member of the Libraries’ management team,
this position proposes, substantiates and documents budget
and personnel requirements and manages departmental budget
allocations according to Division and Libraries priorities;
represents staff in various organizational contexts; coordinates
efforts with other Libraries units and partners external to the
Libraries; maintains strong communications channels within the
department, division, and Libraries; reports the work and
performance of the department; and demonstrates effective
interpersonal and communication skills in groups as a member
and a leader.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: ALA accredited MLS; at least
three years of increasing cataloging and management
responsibility in an academic or research library; experience using
AACR2, and MARC formats and online authority control;
demonstrated experience in organizing electronic and digital
resources; experience with organizing networked resources;
experience and knowledge of automation systems; evidence of
excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent
leadership and collaboration skills; demonstrated successful
experience supervising librarians and support staff; and a
demonstrated commitment to innovative approaches for
improving  operations and services of research libraries; and the
ability to meet tenure and promotion criteria. Desired:
Experience with INNOPAC, OCLC, project management, and
intra-library collaboration.

RANK and SALARY: Full faculty status and responsibilities.
12-month tenure track appointment with contract renewed
annually until tenure is granted. Salary minimum $50,000.

with graduate and professional students comprising about 18%
of the total.  The University Libraries is an ARL library with
materials holdings of 2 million and 120 staff. Colorado State
University is located in Fort Collins, a dynamic community with
a population of 110,000 situated 65 miles north of Denver at
the foothills of the Rockies. Rocky Mountain National Park,
Poudre Canyon, and other mountain recreation areas are nearby.
