Libraries and Learning Technologies of the American University in Cairo invites applications for the following position: HEAD OF CATALOGING: Faculty Position reporting to Director of Library Technology Services. Responsibilities: Manages Cataloging Department, including end-processing functions. Supervises, hires and trains staff. Develops programs, evaluates workflows. Compiles statistics, prepares budget requests, annual reports, other reports as needed. Serves as contact for bibliographic control of all items in Libraries. Qualifications: Master�s degree from ALA/LC accredited program or equivalent required. 3-5 years cataloging experience. Supervisory experience is essential. Familiarity with RLIN or OCLC, knowledge of AACRII, MARC formats, LC Classification. All instruction is in English. AUC is chartered in the United States and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Libraries. The AUC Libraries have over 297,000 volumes, approximately 2000 current periodical subscriptions, 80 databases, and 116,000 microform units. AUC is an RLG/SHARES member. Appointments/Salary: This is a full-time (11 month), two-year faculty appointment. The position will be available as of September 1, 2001. Renewal of an appointment depends upon institutional needs and the appointee�s performance. Salary is according to scale based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include 30 working days home leave, housing, round-trip air travel for appointee and accompanying family members, plus schooling for up to two children. In view of AUC�s protocol agreement with the Egyptian government, which requires specific proportions of Egyptian, U.S. and third-country citizen faculty, at this time preference will be given to qualified applicants who are U.S. citizens.
