Arthritis Care & Research -- Bridget Clancy Stephen D. Clark 22 Mar 2001 18:53 UTC
-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Arthritis Care & Research Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2001 12:35:36 -0500 From: Bridget Clancy <Bridget.Clancy@mail.tju.edu> Hi Everyone, I am hoping that you can help me untangle something. This message will likely be confusing, I'll try to keep it as clear as possible. Currently we have these journal issues: 1. _Arthritis Care and Research_ v. 13, no. 6 December 2000, published for the American College of Rheumatology by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins; 2. _Arthritis & Rheumatism_ v. 44, no. 2 February 2001, published for the American College of Rheumatology by Wiley Interscience; 3. _Arthritis & Rheumatism (Arthritis Care & Research) v. 45 no. 1 February 2001, published for the American College of Rheumatology by Wiley Interscience. >>From v. 45, no. 1 February 2001 (item #3): "Arthritis & Rheumatism (Print ISSN 0004-3591; online ISSN 1529-0131 ...), is published monthly, along with Arthritis Care and Research semimonthly in February, April, June, August, October, and December ..." In _Arthritis Care & Research_ v. 13, no. 6 December 2000 (item #!), there is an editorial explaining the changes (and I use the term "explaining" loosely!), and it states: "Citations of articles in _Arthritis & Rheumatism_ will remain as they are now, but citations of articles in _Arthritis Care & Research_ will be altered to the following style: Author. Title. _Arthritis Rheum (Arthritis Care Res)_ year; volume: pages." >>From what I can gather from looking at these 3 items, item #3 has become a section of item #2, and has taken on its numbering. So now we have only two titles: Arthritis & Rheumatism v. 44, etc.; and, Arthritis & Rheumatism (Arthritis Care & Research) v. 45, etc. As a result, the record for _Arthritis Care & Research_ (item #1 above), should be closed out with the December volume, with the appropriate link, and a note to the effect that it became a section of _Arthritis & Rheumatism_ and took on its numbering; The record for _Arthritis & Rheumatism_ should have the appropriate link to the section title, with a note stating that item #3 is now a section of the journal, with corresponding volume numbering; A new record should be created for _Arthritis & Rheumatism (Arthritis Care & Research), beginning with v. 45 no. 1 February 2001, and any links and notes to clarify things should be included. If you have read this far (!), tell me, is this the approach you would take? The other staff here finds it confusing, and cannot believe that my interpretation is correct. Any advice, corrections, encouragement, etc. would be appreciated. Feel free to contact me off-list, I can summarize later.
