BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT HEAD: Reporting to the Associate
University Librarian, this position is responsible for the overall
planning and management of the Bibliographic Services Department which
consists of Acquisitions and Preservation, Serials, Cataloging and
Government Publication processing. Position responsibilities include
providing leadership in developing and maintaining services/programs for
the department; participating in the Library's Management Group; personnel
administration of 4 librarians and 16 staff; providing leadership on use
of integrated library system; serving as project director for Hampton
Roads Union list of Serials.  All librarians act as bibliographers for
assigned subject areas and participate on a variety of university and
library committees and teams.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED:  ALA accredited MLS; progressively responsible
management experience (including supervision, planning, program or project
management and fiscal practices); experience in at least one technical
services area (acquisitions and preservation, serials, cataloging);
knowledge of emerging information technologies and digital resources;
proficiency with an integrated library system and database management;
effective interpersonal and communication skills; analytical skills (such
as problem solving, quantitative, time management, computer applications
skills); evidence of professional development; evidence of user-centered
service perspective.  PREFERRED: Experience in management of an integrated
library system's technical services modules; experience in collection
development; knowledge of a foreign language

SALARY/BENEFITS:  Minimum salary $52,000 Excellent benefits package
