Subject:      LAMA seeks "Best of Show" award winners

Outstanding library public relations materials are being sought for the
Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) Public Relations
Section Swap and Shop "Best of Show" awards competition.  All libraries are
invited to participate.  Entries are now being accepted through April 6,
2002.  They need to be sent to the "2002 Best of Show" Competition, c/o
Karen Richgruber, Community Services Manager, Duluth Public Library, 520
West Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802.

Library promotional materials will be judged by a team of experts.  Winning
entries will be on display during the Swap and Shop program on Sunday, June
16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., during the American Library Association (ALA)
Annual Conference in Atlanta.  The awards will be presented to the winners
on that day.

Judging in all categories will be based on content, originality, design
format, and effectiveness.

In two categories, calendars of events and newsletters, entrants are asked
to provide four copies of each three consecutive issues.

The remaining categories for competition will consist of:
annual reports
bibliographies/booklists
services/policy/orientation materials
materials that promote programs, events or educate the public about diversity
fund-raising materials/programs/events
programs/special events
original children's summer reading club materials
original young adult summer reading club materials
original adult reading club materials
materials about the Internet or your Web site.

For consideration in these categories, entries should include four copies
of each item to be judged.
