Query - if this is so, why did I get a message on my last invoice from
ProQuest/UMI telling me that is was no longer available? If it has been
reinstated, wouldn't a message to old subscribers have been a good idea?
Just curious about where this is at. Karen.

Regarding your inquiry about Popular Mechanics, I can report
      that it is
available from ProQuest Information and Learning (formerly
      UMI) from the
first issue (published in January 1902) to the present day.
      (Note that
Popular Mechanics underwent several name changes. From Jan
      11, 1902 - May
1913 it was known as "Popular mechanics: an illustrated
      weekly review of the
mechanical press of the world." From June 1913 - July 1959
      it was called
"Popular mechanics magazine: written so you can understand
      it.")

      Thanks.

Actually, we were told by UMI that Popular Science was no longer available
on microfilm. This was one of several popular magazine titles (including
Discover, Field and Stream, Sky and Telescope and Audubon, etc.) that were
dropped last year by UMI. When asked, they cited that several publishers
were concerned about the Tasini vs. New York Times case and pulled the
rights.

As far as I know, these titles are still unavailable, which is very
unfortunate.
