Pamela,

Is the discrepancy with your vendor or with the publisher (?) of the
journal
in question? If you spoke with a publisher rep, who is now claiming
payment
for an unwanted item, then refer this issue to your vendor. It's the
vendor's responsibility to track this information and should have the
request on record. It's also a good idea to keep your own proof of the
transaction; if the cancellation was made through email or snail mail,
get a
copy of that document. I'd also check your account online to see the
transaction history of the title. If the vendor states that they never
received the cancellation notice, then you can present either written or
email documentation of your request. If you decided to cancel prior to
payment and notified your vendor, then the cancellation stands (provided
that you have documentation).

Good luck!

Stefanie

Colleagues,
We are having a discrepancy with a vendor. I would like to pose the
question as to when a title is "renewed"? In this case, they are saying
the title was renewed via a conversation with their sales person where I
even explained to him that this was a title renewed through our vendor.
In
the interim time period, before we paid anyone (publisher or agent) -
we
decided to cancel this title. So... was the title actually renewed?
They
are declaring it was and are demanding payment in full for a product
that
we do not want. I would love to hear others' opinion about what
constitutes a valid renewal.
Thank you.
