I just received this news release from our subscription agent and
thought others would be interested. What Facts & Comparisons obviously
doesn’t understand (or doesn’t care about) is that libraries use
subscription agents as a time and labor saver. In our critical budget
situation, any direct subscription that becomes a receipt problem is a
possible cancellation.If they insist on this they better have exemplary
customer service.

In a message dated March 20, 2002, Cindy Meilink, FACTS AND COMPARISONS

Marketing Manager, advised subscription agents that effective April 30,

2002, the publisher will no longer offer their products through
subscription agents.The publisher noted that handling "claims and
processing subscription agency orders accounts for 75% of the entry and
research time of our customer service representatives."The publisher
asks that we advise all subscribers that after April 30, orders for
Facts and Comparisons products should be sent directly to them for
fulfillment.We will be informing our customers individually about titles
we currently handle for them so they can transfer the orders to the
publisher.We regret that HARRASSOWITZ will not be able to accept further
orders from our customers for any of the FACTS AND COMPARISONS titles.
