This is a real Friday afternoon question: How do folks treat proceedings
when they are part of a regular serial title but are also cataloged and
shelved separately from the journal title? The specific title in
question is _ACM Sigmetrics performance evaluation review_. The
Proceedings are a regular publication of the serial title (ex: Special
Issue, Volume 30, No. 1, June 2002) which in our library is classified
and shelved as a monograph.
The rest of Volume 30 consists of Nos. 2 (Sept. 02), 3 (Dec 02), etc.
But these are shelved as a journal title.
As I see it, our options would be to 'unclassify' the proceedings
volumes and bind them with the title or to bind the remaining issues of
the title with a page in the bound volume giving the location of the
proceedings issue (or, I guess, we could cancel the title altogether and
not have to deal with the problem at all).
You can reply to my off-list and I can summarize for the list if anyone
is interested in the results.
