Date: Tue, 20 May 2003 16:14:04 -0400 From: "Katia Roberto" <kroberto@ILLINOISALUMNI.ORG> Subject: ALCTS Creative Ideas in Technical Services Discussion Group at ALA Annual The ALCTS Creative Ideas in Technical Services Discussion Group will meet at ALA Annual 2003 on Sunday, June 22nd from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. This discussion group meeting consists of round table discussions with 8-10 people participating at each table. We are seeking volunteers to serve as facilitators and recorders at each discussion table. FACILITATORS introduce the topic, ask persons to introduce themselves, keep track of the meeting time, and, most importantly, keep the discussion moving and ensure that all are able to participate. The co-chairs will supply a list of questions for each topic that facilitators can use to keep the discussion focused and moving. Facilitators may also incorporate their own questions as well. Experience has shown that very few tables make it through all the questions in the time provided! RECORDERS participate in the discussion and take notes of the discussion which will be forwarded to the co-chairs. The co-chairs will use the notes to write a report which will be given to ALCTS. Facilitators and recorders will receive acknowledgement in the report. Please volunteer by June 9th by contacting Fran Krempasky,co-chair <ag3412@wayne.edu>. Let us know if you have a topic preference and if you would prefer to serve as a facilitator or recorder. In addition, a list of discussion questions is available upon request. For those who wish to enjoy what are always informative and lively discussions, please join us on Sunday! TOPICS: 1. Is MARC dead? 2. Technical Services on a Shoestring 3. The Librarian/Professional Staff Relationship in Technical Services 4. What Does Technical Services Look Like Today Compared to 10 Years Ago? 5. Metadata 6.
