The University of California Irvine Libraries invites applications for two positions in the Catalog Department:

1) Head, Serials Cataloging Section (Re-opened). The incumbent will provide leadership, management and supervision of daily operations for the Serials Cataloging Section which catalogs serials in all formats; monitor trends and maintain currency in emerging issues in bibliographic control of serials; perform original and complex copy cataloging of serials; and share responsibility in the Catalog Department management as a member of the Cataloging Policy Committee.  The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience within the range of $42,996-$70,500 (Associate Librarian I - Librarian II).  Applicants who may qualify at the Associate Librarian level are encouraged to apply.
2) Catalog Maintenance Projects Librarian.  This is a new position responsible for organizing and managing catalog maintenance projects and retrospective cataloging projects.  Coordinates and schedules both on-going and special projects.  Develops and maintains projects procedures.  Oversees projects, provides training and revision, as necessary.  Oversees and coordinates the processing workflow for the remote storage facility shipments and related records maintenance.  Performs both complex copy cataloging and original cataloging for materials needed re-cataloging or for retrospective materials.  Position reports to the Head, Catalog Maintenance Section.  The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience within the range of $37,920 - $52,620 (Assistant Librarian I - Associate Librarian IV).  Qualified librarians with less than 5 years post-MLS experience are encouraged to apply.

The Catalog Department is responsible for cataloging approximately 40,000 items annually.  The Department includes 7 librarians, 22 library assistants, and a varying number of student assistants.  The Serials Cataloging and the Catalog Maintenance Sections are two of six sections of the Catalog Department.  The other sections are Monograph Cataloging, Copy Cataloging, Electronic Resources/Federal Documents and East Asian.  The Serials Cataloging Section is responsible for cataloging serials in all formats and all languages except CJK.  The Catalog Maintenance Section is responsible for correcting and maintaining the accuracy of records in ANTPAC, the UCI Libraries' catalog and in MELVYL, the University of California's union catalog.  The Catalog Maintenance Section engages in ongoing maintenance work and various short term and long term projects.  The Catalog Department uses OCLC for cataloging and the Innovative Interfaces Inc. INNOPAC system as the Libraries' OPAC.
