We went from alpha to LC about 10 years ago.  It took about a year to get
everything labeled and ready to go-I plotted out how many shelves every
title took and went out before hand and put stickers in each spot where a
new title started.  We got the rearranging done in 4 days with about 10
people moving things and it was quite a zoo but it went without a hitch
and I'm so much happier with this system.  Before the move there were
titles that might get misshelved in 2-3 different places, depending on how
the student read the title.  Now there is only one place for it to go and
title changes are kept together.  It takes a little longer to prepare
things now but we aren't out searching for lost items nearly as often.  I
think the patrons like it better also, because of the "browsing" factor.
