DARTMOUTH COLLEGE LIBRARY HANOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE Head, Acquisitions Services The Dartmouth College Library seeks an enthusiastic and innovative professional to provide programmatic and strategic leadership in library collection management and development support operations, including the acquisition of information resources in all formats; digital resources acquisition, licensing, and access management; donor and vendor relations; information resources budget management; and user services for journal and newspaper collections. Reporting to the Associate Librarian for Collection Services and Digital Library Technologies, this position develops and coordinates programs and policies in support of collection development operations; oversees the acquisitions process; collaborates with bibliographers to analyze vendor offers and products, review licenses and contracts, and manage trials for new information products and services; participates in the planning and development of networked content and services for the Digital Library. Requirements: ALA accredited degree in library and/or information science OR a combination of an advanced subject or professional degree combined with relevant academic library experience; minimum of six years progressively responsible experience in an academic library or related setting; knowledge of current issues in trends in library acquisitions and collection development; thorough knowledge of acquisitions business practices and experience with the vendor/publisher environment; knowledge of scholarly publishing; familiarity with licensing and intellectual property issues; understanding of and commitment to the use of digital technology; the ability to provide leadership in a complex and evolving academic environment; reading knowledge of at least one Western European language; commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
