Serials Librarian - Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the
Serials Librarian is responsible for planning, coordinating and
directing the acquisition, cataloging and processing of serials in
print, microformats, and electronic formats, including the tasks
associated with the bibliographic control and issues related to the
access/use of serials in an academic setting.  The Serials Librarian
will develop, implement and evaluate serials control policies and
procedures, including reviewing vendor performance and budget
recommendations and statistical reports. The incumbent also is
responsible for supervising work study students and performing other
assigned duties.

Qualifications: Master s degree from an ALA-accredited library school
and two years professional experience in acquisitions or serials work,
including knowledge of electronic resources licensing and the vendor
contracting process. Experience with an automated library system (III
preferred), an automated bibliographic database (OCLC preferred), the
Internet, and basic microcomputer applications. Ability to provide
leadership in issues relating to electronic resources access and serials
collection development, and actively participate in on-going serials
reviews. Ability to train, supervise and enjoy working with work-study
students, and work collegially with library staff, vendors, donors,
faculty and students.

Salary: High $30 s - low $40's depending on background and experience.
