The Société Française des Microscopies and the Société de Biologie
Cellulaire de France are pleased to announce that from 1 January 2005 the
jointly owned journal Biology of the Cell will be published by Portland
Press Ltd.

Biology of the Cell publishes articles of original research on all aspects
of cellular and molecular biology and cell physiology that make a
significant contribution to our further understanding of the mechanistic
relationships that govern cellular functions.

Portland Press is the wholly owned subsidiary of the Biochemical Society.

*** Important subscription information ***

        1.  Subscription renewals - Portland Press Ltd will take over the
publication of Biology of the Cell from Elsevier B.V. from the beginning
of 2005. Please amend your records to show that subscription renewals for
Biology of the Cell for 2005 should now be sent to Portland Customer
Services at the following address:

                When renewing for 2005 please provide purchase order
number and subscriber address details. If journal issues are to be sent to

        2.  The frequency of Biology of the Cell will increase from 9 to

        5.  Online licenses - Extended online licenses for multi-site,
multi-campus or consortium use are available, or to allow online access to
all Portland Press journals. Please contact the sales office for further

        6.  Backfiles - Elsevier B.V. will continue to host back files on
Science Direct. From January 2005 backfiles will also be hosted on the new
journal website www.biolcell.org

        7.  Claims - Elsevier B.V. will continue to handle claims for 2004
issues until 1 February 2005. After this date Portland Customer Services
will handle claims.

        8.  Usage statistics are available for Portland Press journals and
are COUNTER Level 2 compliant. Subscribers also have access to latest
despatch dates from the Portland Customer Services website.
