Here at UMKC, we use Innovative.  What we do is insert a null issue box
after the last expected issue.  A screenshot is below.  This is a view
in staff mode, but the OPAC displays the boxes you see.

This works well for a variety of reasons.  Both users and staff can
clearly see what issues remain to be received before the cancellation
takes effect.  It also alerts staff to finish the cancellation
processing (closing the summary holdings field, pulling issues to bind,
etc.) when the last issue is received.
