ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN II or LIBRARIAN III COLLECTION SERVICES UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MĀNOA LIBRARY Readvertisement, full-time, tenure track, general funds, available immediately RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of Head of Serials, implement and maintain access to electronic resources of all types through the following activities: · Coordinate the acquisition of electronic resources; negotiate contracts and licenses; sign agreements according to contract and University policies · Coordinate fund management and maintenance of resources in electronic formats · Work with information technology staff to ensure technical compatibility with library information technology infrastructure · Work with the Electronic Collections Committee to determine policies for the life cycle of the librarys electronic resources · Manage the librarys information about electronic resources across a variety of platforms · Work with subject selectors to arrange and schedule electronic product trials · Serve as the librarys representative in arranging consortial licenses for electronic resources, negotiating on behalf of the nine-campus UH system as necessary · Monitor trends in electronic publishing · Serve as Acting Head of Serials or Acquisitions Department in their absences, including supervision of civil service, intern and student assistant staff · Meet the requirements for promotion and tenure, including scholarship and professional service MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: § ALA accredited MLS or international equivalent At rank of Librarian III: an additional 24 credits of post baccalaureate coursework and three years of professional library experience working in serials or the technical management of electronic resources. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Familiarity with the language and methods used in the negotiation of licenses and contracts for electronic resources · Experience in technical processing of library materials, e.g. ordering, receiving, cataloging, etc. in an automated environment · Experience with data base construction and management · Experience effectively supervising staff · Knowledge of OpenURL · Knowledge of electronic information resources in all formats § Demonstrated experience in creating web pages · Demonstrated experience with technical process improvement · Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, collegial organizational structure, including negotiation and persuasion skills · Demonstrated experience working independently and following through on work assignments · Evidence of initiative and flexibility · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Familiarity with a variety of computer hardware and software · Demonstrated commitment to professional service SALARY RANGE: Librarian II $36, 720 to $54,360, Librarian III $42,840 to $63,588.
