University at Albany Libraries Albany, New York POSITION - Half-time Web Specialist at the SL-3 level RESPONSIBILITIES - The University at Albany Libraries seeks a .5 FTE Web Specialist, reporting to the Assistant Director for User Services. This candidate will assist in the development of the Libraries web site, plan, implement and maintain web applications; assist library faculty and staff with developing web applications and materials including User Education pages and tutorials, subject lists and research guides, and reference pages; and, assist in maintaining technical interfaces for division services such as Illiad and ERes. QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum qualifications: Bachelor in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field; knowledge of current and emerging technologies in digital and Web-based services; demonstrated proficiency in the following: relational database programming on SQL Server to create dynamic or data driven Web content; Web application development using Microsoft Visual Studio or other authoring tools; Web site design; XHTML; ASP; Visual Basic and script languages including Visual Basic Script and JavaScript. A demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse people. Preferred qualifications: experience with the MS IIS Web server environment; knowledge of XML and metadata standards; Windows applications development; MS .NET; Php/MYSQL; library and/or teaching experience.
