Cataloging Librarian San Diego State University Library and Information Access seeks an energetic, flexible, and service oriented librarian to catalog Spanish language and Special Collections. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to participate in the Librarys collection development, instruction, and reference services. The library employs 25 librarians, 60 staff, and has a materials budget of $2.45 million. The monographs cataloging unit consists of two librarians and six paraprofessionals. The unit processes 25,000 books, media items, and other special materials annually. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a member of the Technical Services Division, Monographs Unit and will: --Provide full-level cataloging for Spanish-language materials; --Provide original and complex copy cataloging, including authority work, for all Special Collections monographic, archival, and manuscript materials; --Assist with any level of cataloging of any type of material as needed. Required Qualifications: --ALA-accredited masters degree or equivalent foreign degree; --Knowledge of current and evolving cataloging concepts, and national and international standards; ---Demonstrated experience cataloging monographic materials using AACR2, LCRIs, LCSH, LCCS, MARC 21 formats, and using OCLC for original and copy cataloging, and authority work; --Working knowledge of Spanish; --Demonstrated ability to produce a large quantity of quality cataloging work on a regular basis; --Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through effectively and efficiently with all issues and tasks; --Ability to work well with librarians, staff, and student assistants within a team environment; --Attention to detail and accuracy; --Excellent verbal and written communication skills; --Potential for meeting the requirements for tenure and promotion. Preferred Qualifications: --Experience cataloging Spanish-language materials; --Experience cataloging the types of monographic and archival materials typically included in special collections; --Experience with authority control, including establishing headings; --Experience using an Innovative Interfaces system for cataloging and authority work. This is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure track faculty position. Tenure is dependent upon continuing library service effectiveness, professional growth and development, and service to the University and the community. Rank of either Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian, with a starting salary from: $51,852-82,944. Excellent benefits, including 24 days vacation.
