Jeune Afrique Economie and Journal de L'Afrique en Expansion Bob Persing 10 May 2006 14:41 UTC

Folks -- I'm seeking enlightenment about the French journals Jeune
Afrique Economie and Journal de L'Afrique en Expansion.

Jeune Afrique Economie was published until no.349 (Mar. 2003), then
stopped. Several months later, Journal de L'Afrique en Expansion
started, from a new publisher, with no.350. The first 35 pages of
no.350 were devoted to a long article, describing how the publisher of
Jeune Afrique Economie had done the editors wrong, and that's why the
editors had now started this new magazine.

All understandable so far -- one of those editorial schisms that keep
life interesting. All the usual sources (RLIN, OCLC, the subscription
agents) treat this as a title change.

We've now received nos.350-367 of Journal de L'Afrique en Expansion.
The copy of no.361 we received, though, has the old title, Jeune Afrique
Economie, on the cover, but the new title listed inside. On looking
further, I find that every issue through no.366 contains a list of
journals published by the new publisher, and the list includes both
titles. As of no.367, though, the list no longer includes Jeune Afrique
Economie.

So, did both titles continue in parallel? If so, has Jeune Afrique
Economie now ceased, or is it still going? Or did Jeune Afrique
Economie really cease with no.349, and its reappearance on the cover of
no.361 was just an accident?

Thanks for any information,
:-) Bob Persing
