Hi all,

Several months ago I emailed SERIALST about what to do when a binder has
reported missing volumes.

It has now reached the point where the binder has agreed to replace the
missing volumes.  So now I have a couple of new questions for the group:

Responsibility for replacing lost volumes?

Our binder has sent me an authorization indicating they will pay for the
replacements but it looks like we have to find them.  I am wondering if
this is typical?  I was expecting the binder to find replacements free
of charge for us so was a bit taken aback that the burden of finding
replacements would fall on us.  I'm not finding anything in our contract
specifying that.  It also looks like we have to find replacements within
1 year.

Determining value when replacements cannot be found?

How is this handled by other libraries?  I have a sinking feeling that
at least two of the lost volumes are going to be pretty much impossible
to replace.  What can I do to ensure that we are getting fair value for
these lost items from the binder?

Any help with this would be much appreciated!  Thank you.
