COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT LIBRARIAN

POSITION SUMMARY: The University of Central Arkansas seeks a Collection
Development Librarian for Torreyson Library. UCA is an outstanding
educational community whose FTE has grown from 7,930 to 10,851 in less
than five years.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Technical Services, the successful
candidate will be responsible for collection analysis, management, and
development with special emphasis on print versus electronic formats.
Other duties will include an ongoing de-selection project, monographic
acquisitions, accreditation reports,  policy development, liaison work
with vendors/faculty, supervision, budgeting, reference desk coverage,
and special projects as assigned. Some weekend work will be required,
and some evening work may be required.

The successful candidate will be someone who is open minded, has a
flexible personality, strong social skills, the ability to function as a
team member, and a dedication to the profession of academic
librarianship. Opportunities to serve as adjunct faculty in various
disciplines are available. Although experience is preferred, the right
entry level candidate will be considered.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with collection development work
in an academic library and/or in the book/serials trade; experience with
web design or grant writing. Additional graduate level degree and/or
coursework.

RANK: Depending on the candidate's credentials and interests, this
appointment may be made at the Library Assistant Professor rank on
tenure track or at the non-tenure track Library Instructor rank.
